In Tamil, word order is as follows:
1) Adjectives or other qualifying words precede the noun they refer to.
2) A verb is the final element of the sentence or clause, since it normally follows all elements of the sentence that are relevant to it.
3) The order of the other elements is not fixed, although usually the subject comes first (sometimes the subject may be omitted).
4) The indications of grammatical or semantic function in the sentence (the case, the tense, etc) follow the relevant word (either as a suffix or as a separate word).
